SMART READER® INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN WORKSHOP.

Special education for children with special needs is becoming more widespread. There were many programmes and initiatives to help these children achieve the level of functioning similar to those of the normal children. SRI® College Students Association (SCSA) collaborated with Smart Reader® Worldwide to hold the Special Needs Children Workshop at Smart Reader® Worldwide Auditorium.

The aim of the workshop is to provide crucial knowledge on handling children with special needs for teachers, parents and advocates of special needs.  With the increase of knowledge and confidence, the interaction and communication with the special needs children could be enhanced. This workshop also serves as a platform to gather all the experts to share the latest methodologies and approaches related to special needs education.

According to Early Childhood Education lecturer, Norhayati Othman, “It is crucial to create awareness on the need for a support system that will positively inspire children with special needs as well as their caregivers.  I am happy to run this Special Needs Children Workshop to deliver the message that these children are special. Themed ‘We Are All Special’, the workshop enabled the participants to share their knowledge and ideas on how to handle special needs children wisely.”

Ms Tracy Tai, Director of Chrysalis Special Needs Centre for Learning Difficulties, feels that education is a powerful medium to transform the lives of these children. Special needs workshop organised will be able to integrate knowledge, experiences and practices of people in the field.  Dr. Supiah Saad, lecturer from International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), shared hands-on methodologies and approaches in dealing with various special needs children and parents.

“We hope that the workshop will help to educate not just the parents but also teachers or educators on how we can all work together to handle special needs children. It will be an eye-opening experience for parents and as well as educators. They will be able to understand how to take care of special needs children,” added Norhayati Othman.

The Special Needs Children Workshop was well-received by participants. It helped participants to understand the constraints and challenges of individuals with special needs in Malaysia. They were happy to share their experience, expertise and resources for the improvement of these children.

  1. Like any other essay writing MBA candidate, it can be frightening and worrisome when you reach the point of writing those actual essays for the schools of your choice. With the multitude of essay editing services out there, it can be tough trying to decide which one to help you write your statement of purpose for MBA programs.
